Glass Bottle Frames

Thought it might be time I post a little update.

We’ve finally finished remodeling the studio and waiting area with the exception of a few finishing touches. It looks so nice and fresh with the new flooring and paint. It’s so nice to have the waiting area and shooting space all one big open room. When you’re doing a shoot, you never know when you’re going to want to spread out. It also lets the light from both rooms flow throughout the space.

I’ve also been busy updating the décor in the waiting area. Gone is the old country/outdoorsy décor and we’ve brought in a nice caramel color microfiber suede sofa and love seat. It’s a cleaner more stream lined look yet still very comfortable and casual.

Of course with the updates I had to find some new and innovative way to showcase some of my recent photographic work. But what’s “new and innovative” in displaying photography? There isn’t too many different ways to do this and they’ve all pretty much been around for eons now. To my thrill and surprise sitting in my email inbox was a newsletter from Photojojo with the lead story being Glass Jar Frames. GREAT idea! Here’s a link to the article and directions to make your own Photojojo’s Glass Jar Frames. Not only is this a fun idea it’s also eco-friendly.

I used some of the old bottles I have around and loved the results. Sorry that I haven’t had the time to take my own pictures to show you my Glass Bottle Frames. I’ll have to try and get a few up later this week. If not, I guess you’ll just have to stop by my studio for a look-see.

Now if I could just get my hubby back to work on those barn wood frames.

Quiz: Famous Photographers of History.

2008-10-27

Here’s another little quiz on famous Photographers. (Just in case you need to kill some time.) This one’s a little difficult unless you know your photographers, then it should be easy. If nothing else, it’s educational and interesting for fellow photographers. Have fun!

I scored a 9/10. The average score is 6/10 so I must have gotten lucky. I’d love to hear your results.

Which famous photographer?

2008-07-15

Here’s a fun quiz titled; “Which famous photographer are you?” It’s been around for a while but if you haven’t seen it yet and you love photography - take the quiz! Most results I’ve seen peg people as Ansel Adams types and I expected mine would be the same but we can’t all be like him. Even though he’s influenced many of us, some have to be different.

Here’s my results:

Which famous photographer are you?

Henri Cartier-Bresson: Known for street photography and photojournalism

“We are passive onlookers in a world that moves perpetually. Our only moment of creation is that 1/125th of a second when the shutter clicks, the signal is given, and motion is stopped…”

For those of you who are not familiar with Henri Cartier-Bresson you can view some of his wonderful photographs from the Tete a Tete Exhibit. This photographer, born in France, is considered the father of modern photojournalism and the master of candid photography. He traveled all over the world with his Leica rangefinders and photographed many historic events. He was also one of the co-founders of Magnum Photos. See Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson to learn more about him and his work.

Though I’ve never thought of myself as being a photojournalist, it does spark a new interest in my photography. I love photographing people and taking candid shots. You can bet that I’ll be researching more about photojournalism and Henri Cartier-Bresson in the coming months.

If you take this quiz, I’d love to hear about your results and thoughts on the photographer you’re most like. Do you agree? Disagree?
